AAAI Computer Poker Competition

From July 16–20, at the Twenty-First National Conference on Artificial Intelligence in Boston, Massachusetts, AAAI will hold the first AAAI Computer Poker Competition. The game will be heads-up limit Texas Hold-Em. To encourage broad involvement, we will not require participants to attend or register for the conference to participate. The winner will receive no prize other than the joy of victory and the envy of the community.

For details, visit the competition website, where you will find the rules, the freeware server to be used in the competition along with source code, example 'bots, and forums for discussion among participants.

If you want to hear more about this competition, please contact the organizers at poker-competition@cs.rutgers.edu. If you would like to compete, please e-mail the organizer with the subject "Want to Compete" at poker-competition@cs.rutgers.edu. Include the following information:

  • Team leader’s name
  • Other team members, as appropriate
  • Your bot’s name
  • Postal address
  • Telephone number (including country code if outside Canada/US)

Note: This competition was proposed to AAAI and is supported by the Poker Research Group at the University of Alberta. Michael Littman (Rutgers University) was asked to serve as the impartial “arbiter” and to supervise the evaluation process so that the University of Alberta has the option of participating in the competition. They deserve our hearty appreciation for creating this opportunity for the community.

Best of luck to all!
