Disclaimer: In offering University of Illinois at Chicago (campus housing), and all other service providers (hereinafter referred to as "Supplier(s)" for the AAAI Conference on Artificial Intelligence and the Innovative Applications Conference), AAAI acts only in the capacity of agent for the Suppliers that are the providers of the service. Because AAAI has no control over the personnel, equipment or operations or providers of accommodations or other services included as part of the AAAI-08/IAAI-08 program, AAAI assumes no responsibility for and will not be liable for any personal delay, inconveniences or other damage suffered by conference participants which may arise by reason of (1) any wrongful or negligent acts or omissions on the part of any Supplier or its employees, (2) any defect in or failure of any vehicle, equipment or instrumentality owned, operated or otherwise used by any Supplier, or (3) any wrongful or negligent acts or omissions on the part of any other party not under the control, direct or otherwise, of AAAI.
Student Abstract and Poster Program
The goal of the AAAI-08 Student Abstract and Poster program is to provide a forum in which students can present and discuss their work during its early stages, meet some of their peers who have related interests, and introduce themselves to more senior members of the field. The program is open to all pre-Ph.D students. Nonstudent advisors or collaborators should be acknowledged appropriately, as coauthors or otherwise. However, students are requested to honor the spirit of the program by submitting only work for which they are primary investigators.
The deadline for submissions of abstracts and posters has past. For more information, please consult the following:
The AAAI/SIGART Doctoral Consortium
The organizers of the Doctoral Consortium invite all students to attend and participate in the Doctoral Consortium, whether or not they applied to present their work. In previous years, many nonpresenting students said they found it useful to observe their peers' presentations and to participate in the ensuing discussions.
Student Scholar and Volunteer Program
The Student Scholar Program provides partial travel support for students who are full-time undergraduate or graduate students at colleges and universities, are members of AAAI, submit papers to the conference program or letters of recommendation from their faculty advisor, and submit scholarship applications to AAAI by April 15, 2008. In addition, repeat scholarship applicants must have fulfilled the volunteer and reporting requirements for previous awards. In the event that scholarship applications exceed available funds, preference will be given to students who have an accepted technical paper, and then to students who are actively participating in the conference in some way. After the conference, an expense report will be required to account for the funds awarded.
The Student Volunteer Program is an essential part of the conference and student participation is a valuable contribution. Volunteers will support AAAI organizers in Chicago. In 2008, a limited number of complimentary technical program registrations were made available for students who volunteer during the conference. Preference was given to student scholars for the volunteer positions. Local students or students not requiring travel assistance were allowed to apply for the Volunteer Program if openings are available. AAAI membership is required for eligibility. For further information regarding the Student Volunteer Program, please contact AAAI at volunteer08@aaai.org. The deadline for volunteer applications was April 15, 2008.
