Student Modeling for a Web-Based Learning Environment: A Data Mining Approach

In this paper, we report on an on-going study of how data mining techniques, if incorporated into web learning environments, can enhance the overall qualities of learning. The focus is on building student models, using a clustering technique based on large generalized sequences recording both learners’ web browsing behavior and the contents of the pages being browsed.
