DARPA desires new ideas!

Darpa wants to bring in young scientists and new ideas

• e.g.: Darpa sponsored a workshop at AAAI -97 for young AI scientists to present their ideas to a number of PMS (many of these folks were funded under 1998 BAAs)

BUT-- DARPA is a results-centered organization

• most young scientists haven’t learned to portray their ideas appropriately
