Exploring a Mechanics for Context-Aware Information Retrieval

The paper explores the use of some Quantum Mechanics concepts for modeling a context-aware information retrieval system. Superposition models the production of informative objects in their own context, and models the generation of a dimension of context using other dimensions; examples of informative objects are documents and queries. Probability measures the uncertainty of the influence a dimension of context has in an informative object. Density operators models informative objects as non-orthogonal projectors, whereas projectors represent dimensions of context.
