The AAAI Conference on Artificial Intelligence — AAAI's summer conference — has promoted theoretical and applied AI research as well as intellectual interchange among researchers and practitioners. This proceedings contains not only the papers from IAAI-13, but the technical papers of AAAI-13 as well as the symposia papers from EAAI-13.
The IAAI conference traditionally consists of case studies of deployed applications with measurable benefits whose value depends on the use of AI technology, as well as emerging applications, which discuss efforts to apply AI tools, techniques, or methods to real world problems. IAAI-13 will, for the first time, have 3 paper tracks: deployed applications, emerging applications and challenge problems. The deployed applications track focuses on fielded AI applications that distinguish themselves for their in- novative use of AI technology. This year we have 5 papers in this track that includes fielded systems for graduate admissions, natural language question answering, image processing, timetabling and prescription surveillance. The emerging applications track focuses on areas where AI technology can have a practical impact. This year we have 15 papers in this track. For the first time, IAAI-13 will include a challenge problems track. This track aims at presenting to the AI community at large new problems where AI could make a significant dif- ference. We have a challenge problem paper on patterns of life.
