| Justine Cassell's lecture, "Human/Computer Conversation: HAL and Beyond," was the first in the three speaker lecture series: "2001: A Space Odyssey. Are we there yet?" When she gave this talk, Dr. Cassell was an associate professor in the MIT Media Laboratory. She is now [2007] the director of Northwestern University's Center for Technology & Social Behavior, and a full professor in the departments of Communication Studies and Electrical Engineering & Computer. The Washburn Lecture Series was held at the Museum of Science, Boston, and Dr. Cary Sneider, Vice President for Programs, introduced the speakers.
