Rectangle Reasoning: A Qualitative Spatial Reasoning with Superposition

We describe a qualitative spatial reasoning using rectangles with a concept of superposition. In our framework, the target figure is restricted to the rectangles in a two-dimensional plane with foreground/background. The target figure is represented symbolically using two simple objects, regions and lines, and their relationships, together with visibility. We present the formalization and describe an algorithm to derive the target figure corresponding to a symbolic representation.
