The ninth Symposium on Abstraction, Reformulation and Approximation was held on July 17-18, 2011 at the Parador de Cardona in Catalonia, Spain, 60 miles Northwest of Barcelona. The symposium was colocated with the Symposium on Combinatorial Search (SoCS), which was held at the Parador de Cardona immediately before SARA.

SARA2009 was held in Lake Arrowhead, California at the Lake Arrowhead Resort located in the San Bernardino National Forest, 90 miles from Los Angeles International Airport.
SARA2009 was colocated with the International Symposium on Combinatorial Search (SoCS). SoCS ran after SARA with a one-day overlap (July 10) for joint sessions. SARA2009 was also colocated with the International Joint Conference on Artificial Intelligence (IJCAI09) held in Pasadena following SARA and SoCS.
