The History of the Mobot Museum Robot Series: An Evolutionary Study

This paper describes a long-term project to install socially interactive, autonomous mobile robots in public spaces. We have deployed four robots over the last three years, accumulating a total operational time of about six years. We introduce the robots, then focus on the lessons learned from one deployment to the next. The evolution of the robot-human interface is of particular interest, although other aspects of the robots operations are briefly described.
