Author Guidelines

The 2012 AAAI Spring Symposium Series reports will be published by AAAI Press. If you have been notified that your paper has been accepted by your Symposium organizer, please create an account and prepare your paper according to the AAAI Press Author Instructions. To avoid paper handling charges, you must comply with the Formatting Instructions for Authors, which can be found on the Author Instructions page. Once you have prepared your paper, you must submit the following by the symposium deadline:

1. A complete abstract of your paper of no more than 250 words

2. A PDF that follows the AAAI Press guidelines (the submission file)

3. A compressed archive containing all the files necessary to recompile your paper on a separate computer not linked to your own (for Word, this is the "doc" file; for LaTeX, it includes all your figures, .sty files, bib files, dvi file, .tex file, and so forth). This archive should be uploaded in step 4 of the submission process as a supplementary file.

Your electronic camera ready copy is due by 11:59 PM on January 20, 2012 (California time). This site will not accept submissions past that date.

Submission Preparation Checklist

  1. I affirm that the submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another conference or symposium or other venue for consideration.

  2. I reaffirm that I have the right to submit this paper, that I have permission from all my coauthors to grant the rights given to publish the paper, and that the paper violates no copyrights or trademarks.

  3. The text of my paper adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in that document, including number of columns (2), page size (US letter, not A4) margins, (.75 inches [top, left, and right], and 1.25 inches [bottom] and font (Times, Times Roman, Times New Roman, or Nimbus). The paper contains no type 3 fonts. I understand that papers that do not conform will be reformatted at my own expense.

  4. The title follows mixed-case capitalization rules (that is, “Title of Your Paper,” not “Title of your paper”). Papers that do not conform will be reformatted at the author's expense.

  5. If my paper was formatted using LaTeX, I have used an unaltered copy of the 2012 version of aaai.sty and aaai.bst and my LaTeX source file does not use the hyperref or geometry or natbib packages.

If my paper was formatted in Word, I have used an unaltered copy of the 2012 version of the aaai.doc file, and have used the style sheets provided in that file.

  6. I have checked every page of my paper and certify that it contains the proper margins, conforms to the formatting guidelines, and is not being submitted past the deadline. I understand that if this is not the case, my paper will either be reformatted at my expense or the paper excluded from the proceedings.

  7. I have signed and mailed the original of the AAAI Copyright form (included in the author kit) to AAAI (227 East Bayshore Road, Suite 160 Palo Alto, CA 94303). I understand that my paper will not be published if I do not submit this signed form in a timely manner.
